Ryan's First Law of Motion:

R = N * a * P

R = A child's level of motion

N = Number of people in proximity

a = Amount of activity around the subject child

P = An adjustment factor to account for holidays and proximity to favored relatives

Notice that the right side of the equation spells the level of activity sought by parents.
